How to Keep Updated With Business Productivity
Date Added: December 24, 2008 09:05:53 AM
A healthy productivity allows you to gain more with less. It simply means that you can have a few staff but at the same time produce high quality results instead of having many staff but producing low quality results. Having many staff doesn't mean you can get the job done as quick as possible.
There are times economy is not in good shape. You might need to cut cost but you are worried that the productivity might drop. In such a time, you will have to increase the productivity at a low cost. Remember, you don't need to have one hundred staff to produce 50 products each when 50 staff can produce 100 products each. This way, you get to save more money on the salary and at the same time, you get more productivity. In order to get updated with the productivity, you will need to measure the output of your employees. What you get at the moment might not be what you have expected from them but nevertheless, analyze their output in the first place and you will have a general idea of what they are doing.
Then, when you have analyzed the output of your employees, you should be setting some standard for all your employees. It simply means that you need to inform them what they should be producing within a time frame. Let them know your expectation and try to encourage them to achieve the target. When you set the standard, keep in mind that you need to make sure the target you set for your employees is attainable and realistic. Don't expect them to produce something no one can produce. You might scare them away rather than encouraging them to produce more. You will also need to set the target in a timely manner and be specific about what you want. Make sure you don't confuse them because the result might be different that what you want.
While you want them to achieve the goal you have set for them, you need to be sure that whatever they are producing are of good quality. They might be able to produce everything you requested but when it comes to the quality, they are as poor as toilet paper. Quality is often way more important than quantity. This is because the quality is what gains you your reputation. Keep these in mind the next time you are evaluating your employees and you will be the best manager of your own business. |
